Shri Gurdeep Singh is the Chairman & Managing Director of NTPC Limited since 2016 and has been appointed as the Chairperson(Non-Executive) of THDC India Limited with effect from 11 June 2026. Prior to joining NTPC, Shri Gurdeep Singh was the Managing Director of Gujarat State Electricity Company Limited. He has an illustrious career spanning over three decades in the power sector. He started his career in 1987 as an Engineer Trainee with NTPC and has worked his way through various ranks in the public and private sectors, including multinational corporations (MNCs). He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Kurukshetra and has undergone the Management Education Program at IIM Ahmedabad. He has also received management and leadership training from renowned global institutions such as Saïd Business School, Oxford (UK), Harvard Kennedy School (USA), Darden School of Business, University of Virginia (USA), Singapore Civil Service College (Singapore), and ISB Hyderabad (India). He is a member of the International Energy Agency's (IEA) High-Level Advisory Group on Coal in the Global Net Zero Transition and also a member of the Clean Energy Ministerial H2I Advisory Group. He served as Co-Chair of the Taskforce on Energy & Resource Efficiency, B20 Italy 2021. He has launched a series of initiatives to sustain NTPC's growth and bring about the cultural changes necessary to maintain NTPC's position as a leading global energy company. He has positioned NTPC at the forefront of the energy transition and initiated several programs, including aggressive renewable energy expansion, green hydrogen, acquisitions, biomass, waste-to-wealth, carbon capture and utilization (CCU), and global expansion initiatives, transforming NTPC from a coal-based power generating company into a sustainable integrated energy company. His strong focus on increasing competitiveness helped NTPC win various tenders and emerge as a significant player in the renewable energy sector. His emphasis on minimizing environmental impact, maximizing sustainability efforts, and adopting a "Low-Cost, Low-Emission" approach aligns with India's ambitious goal of providing cleaner and affordable power for all. These efforts also contributed to the conceptualization of coal swapping, freight rationalization, priority scheduling of cheaper generating stations, and flexible scheduling schemes.

Shri Sipan Kumar Garg, an accomplished finance leader with over 24 years of distinguished experience in the Indian power sector, has been serving as Director (Finance) of THDC India Limited since 17 August 2024. He was entrusted with the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director from 25 November 2025 to 11 June 2026 (FN) and assumed the additional charge of Managing Director on 11 June 2026 (AN). A highly qualified and multidisciplinary professional, Shri Garg holds a B.Com (Hons) degree and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (CA), the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (CMA), and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (CS), in which he was also a rank holder, along with possessing a Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) degree.

Over the course of his extensive career, he has developed deep expertise in financial management, corporate governance, project financing, regulatory affairs, cost optimization, and commercial operations across both hydro and thermal power domains.

Prior to joining THDC India Limited, he held key leadership roles within the NTPC Group, including serving as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Aravali Power Company Private Limited and Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, and contributed significantly to NTPC’s Corporate Accounts Group as well as the Koldam Hydro Power Project, where he played an instrumental role. Under his financial leadership, the organization achieved its highest-ever credit ratings and secured substantial savings in interest costs on long-term borrowings, demonstrating his strategic strength in debt management and financial restructuring. Recognized for his integrity, commitment, and exceptional command over financial systems, Shri Garg has consistently delivered excellence in every responsibility he has undertaken, contributing to enhanced financial discipline and operational efficiency at the organizations he has served.

He has further enriched his professional depth through participation in advanced programs, seminars, and workshops at esteemed national and international institutions, and is widely regarded as a seasoned speaker on Accounting Standards, Ind AS, and financial best practices. He has also actively contributed to professional bodies through his involvement in key committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, including the Committee on Public Finance and Government Accounting, the Accounting Standards Study Group, and the Members in Industry Group (PSU). A leader of high vision and strategic insight, Shri Garg continues to guide THDC India Limited with a focus on financial robustness, operational excellence, and sustainable growth in alignment with India’s evolving energy landscape.

He also serves as the Chairman of THDC India Limited’s subsidiary companies — TUSCO Limited, TREDCO Rajasthan Limited, and THDCIL-UJVNL Energy Company Limited.
